William Mellor

(1851-1931) Born in Barnsley, Mellor worked in Ilkley, Harrogate and Scarborough, but also travelled further afield to the North East and North Wales.

He was known in particular for his work with oils and his ability to capture the realism of colour reflected in water. He was a classical landscape artist with many of his works depicting Yorkshire, Cumbria, North Wales and Northumberland.
