James Forster Auctioneer & Valuer

James Forster joined Hartleys in January 2024 as a Senior Auctioneer and Valuer having worked previously as Head of Department for Mitchells Auctions in Cockermouth, West Cumbria.

Primarily a picture specialist but also a knowledgeable generalist he has a passion for print making, English watercolours and 20^th century British Art.

James has in the past enjoyed several fine art valuer roles; this has included working for the Sotheby’s valuation department in London and  Halls, Shrewsbury where he pioneered their Modern and Contemporary online timed sales
