A large "Bronko" rocking horse, c.1910, made by either the Star Manufacturing Co, London or Simpson Fawcett & Co, Leeds, on safety stand, finely carved wood and painted dapple grey, with black/amber eyes, horsehair mane and tail, leather Western saddle with high castle and pommel and cowboy stirrups, leather harness, on stained wood stand with turned uprights and Gamages, London label, 49" x 58" x 18" In their catalogue for 1913 this is a largest size "E" priced at 75 shillings. Completely original, and in the same family for over the last seventy years c.f. David Kiss "A Kiss of Rocking Horses, A Directory of British Rocking Horse Makers"
